Cinnamon Roll Pie Crust, other fall goodness and humidity

Fall is in the air.

Correction: If you live in the south, humidity is still in the air.

But fall is coming…at least that is what I keep telling myself as my hair gets bigger and bigger when I step outside.

Today I wanted to share several recipes that give me hope for fall.

This beautiful pie crust just amazes me.

I am going to try this crust with apple pie, too.

I think it would even be good with peaches.

This dessert is just plain delicious. And it would be great to make for kids!

Although, I made it during a fall beach trip a few years ago and the adults devoured it.

Christy from makes hers with canned apples,

but I always use fresh.

Simply chop or slice the apples.

It’s a free country.

You can decide how to cut your apples.

Throw them in the skillet over medium heat with:

2 tbsp of melted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp of cinnamon

Stir until apples are just starting to get tender (approx 5 minutes).

Remove from heat and continue with the rest of her recipe.

I know everyone has their own recipe for apple crisps.

And I have tried LOTS of recipes for apple crisp but hands down this is my favorite.

I like that there is a lot of oatmeal topping. Mmmm.

Common sense note: I usually cut the sugar amount almost in half, and it still tastes great.

I don’t peel the apples either because I am a rebel like that.

And I don’t serve it with ice cream because I love the simplicity of apples and oats.

  • 10 cups all-purpose apples, cored and sliced
  •  1 cup white sugar
  •  1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).

Place the sliced apples in a 9×13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.

Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.
