Monday Randomness: Bailee’s Party, Cinnamon Roll Cake, Hasselback Potatoes, and Painting

We got a good start on our exterior painting.

The freshly painted front door is a cornflower blue (or as my husband calls it cauliflower blue), and we love it!

We have one more coat to go and then will install some new door hardware. I. can’t.wait!

The exterior shutters were in rough shape.

We washed and sanded them and then did one good coat of new paint in a navy color. They look great…final reveal coming soon.

I also tested out this new recipe for cinnamon roll cake on Saturday.

It is really good.

I will post the recipe later this week.

I was supposed to take the cake to our church group gathering on Sunday night, except I forgot to bring it.

Oh well, my co workers will get lots of cake to eat this week.

B party, tv cabinet, door and shutters

Then in the afternoon we headed out to my niece’s birthday party about 45 minutes from our house.

I made this 8×10 wall art for my niece as birthday present. $15 total.

I will post the tutorial this week. It’s super easy.

It was an elephant themed party.

My sister went all out; isn’t this table setting cute?

Peanut favors were a cute touch:)

Her reaction to all the gifts was hysterical. She is a funny kid.

Aren’t they a cute little family?

My sister did an awesome job on the cake.

(Also I need to you notice that I think my other sister is trying to show off her engagement ring in this picture…I am going to assume it was just a accidental photo bomb…but we know how you are Nancee Lee;)

She really is the sweetest (and bossiest) girl.

My siblings say she takes after me.

I will just assume they mean the sweet part and not the bossy part.:)

Happy Birthday Bailee! We love you!

Then on Sunday I made these hasselback scalloped potatoes to go with chili for lunch.

They. were. so. good!

I will post this recipe this week too.

I hope you had a great weekend.

Happy Monday.

  1. Where did you make the 8×10 photo initials frames? I may use that for baby girl’s nursery! Plus, can you post the cinnamon roll cake recipe??!! Looks amazing!
