Home Improvement: Readers, I need your help! Really.

I am really struggling with the paint in our kid bathroom.

We still like the existing color but we are afraid that the new blue tile plus dark coral wall paint is just too vibrant for when we sell the house.

The only reason this is an issue is that once we install the new bathroom vanity it will be INCREDIBLY difficult to paint around it.

So I want to get the paint color right before we install the new vanity.

What do you think?

Would you buy a house with a orange bathroom and blue tile?

Or should we change the paint color?

You all picked our kitchen light fixture last winter so I trust your judgement.

Thanks for the help!

  1. I’d change it to something more neutral and soothing to go with the tile. And it’s not because I don’t love color as I have an orange bathroom too! :)

  2. Well, I have 2 boys so I would be fine with it probably. Plus I love orange and blue. Wonder if you painted one wall orange and the others a neutral toned down color? Maybe very pale blueish grey??

    1. Jennifer, that idea had actually crossed my mind. I could leave the wall that is easy to paint the orange color and paint the rest of the bathroom white. Hmmm. decisions decisions.

  3. I’ve heard whenever you’re struggling for a color – go with Ben Moore’s Grey Owl…if that’s any help:) Here are some pretty ideas to consider:

    Good luck!

  4. I like blue and orange myself but still think I’d pick with a more neutral color in case future buyers aren’t fans of the color choices. :) I like the idea above about keeping the vanity wall as an accent wall/neutral color and painting the rest of the walls the orange! That way future buyers won’t be turned off/super mad at you! :)

  5. No, I would not sink $ into a home with persimmon orange walls and blue tile. Go with the neutrals in paint AND tiles. Use vibrant accents.

  6. I guess I’m bolder than most, but I LOVE the colors and they would not discourage me from purchasing the home. I think the black vanity ties it all together beautifully, and anchors the space perfectly. Go BOLD (stay bold!!!!) is my vote! :)

    1. We are planning to sell the house but it will probably be at least 4-5 years. I really wanted to enjoy the tile upgrade, hence the blue color.
