If you follow this blog with any regularity, you know that I like “fixin” things with little or no money.
Like my doorbell cover project and the recent exterior light makeover.
Well this is the story of our garage door.
It had yellowed plastic window decor that made it look outdated and old.
And it would not be such an eye sore/problem except for the fact that when you drive up to our house it’s the first thing you see.
I thought and thought about how to fix the problem without replacing windows or even the whole door.
And finally I mentioned it to my husband.
He said, “Oh, I can fix that.”
After he removed all the plastic inserts, I pulled out my favorite glass cleaner and got to work.

Apparently, I need to share my thoughts more often because this facelift cost $0 and took about 5 minutes, plus 20 minutes of cleaning time.
I don’t want to even think about the mental exercise I wasted trying to figure it out for myself.
The moral of the story: it pays to talk to your husband.

Wow! I think I ned to do that lost cost fix as well!
I hope it works for you too!
That’s a great tip. It really updates the door! I did something similar with the windows in our last house. All the windows had those wood panel type frames. They popped out easily and totally updated the look of the house. So simple and free!
