Well I promised a cookbook giveaway so here it is.
I am so happy to have the opportunity to review this collection of recipes for Lisa Leake at 100 Days of Real Food.
But this is not just any cookbook; it is more like a text-book(especially if you have children) for simple clean eating.
I did not read any recipes that would be difficult for even novices.
And I will say that most of the recipes are very simple, and at least for my taste buds might require some pizzazz.
But then I am not one to stick to a recipe anyway.
Regardless, I am all for reducing processed foods and cooking from scratch.
I tried the recipe for cinnamon raisin bread. And I actually made it three times. Once as the recipe was written and once substituting 3 bananas and chocolate chips for the applesauce and raisins, once as muffins.
Each time the recipe turned out well. Just be careful not to under/over bake it. I had a hard time telling when it was finished baking.
But it was definitely better tasting than this stuff.
Okay now for the fun part.
I am giving away a copy of the cookbook this week. Winner will be chosen Thursday evening, 9/4/14.

The best recipe I’ve made lately is the Pioneer Woman’s Mexican Pasta Salad–yum!

You introduced me to Lisa’s site, for which I’m very thankful. :) The book looks great. I’m all about simple when it comes to food! My favorite recipe for the past several months has been from Add A Pinch, Honey Soy Pork Tenderloin. Crock pot + soy + honey + pork = yummy! http://addapinch.com/cooking/honey-soy-pork-tenderloin-recipe/#axzz2tW2HM8UM
My favoite recipe is oven tacos. Crockpot spinach and artichoke dip is a close second. :)

I love my mom’s chicken casserole. I don’t know if it’s “the best recipe I’ve ever made” but it’s definitely a food I look forward to everything we have it.
The blackberry cobbler from the Pioneer Cookbook!
Since we have gone to a whole food/clean eating lifestyle sometimes the hardest thing has been sides, especially beans. You have to be prepared with the 8 hours of soaking and couple hours of cooking. I have made both of 100 Days of Real Food’s baked beans and refried beans. They have become a staple in our house and freezer. My guys use to eat these types of sides but now they have become the meal. These two have been the best recently added recipes to our menu :)

salted caramel butter bars!
It’s hard to pick the BEST or a FAVORITE (mainly: I just love food in general!) but I will say 100 Days of Real Food’s meatballs are a staple/clutch recipe in our house! Easy and delicious!

Shared on Facebook and I never go wrong with my nana’s poundcake recipe!
Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding has to be one of my top recipes! Love that stuff!
Do you think I could substitute Craisins for raisins? Maybe I should just use a different recipe in the book. ha! Love the bread part (as my hips can attest to!) but the raisins, not so much. :) This cookbook is going on my wish list.
