Retail Therapy for Friday: Chic Cheap Spring Duds

Old Navy, $20, Women’s Striped Fit & Flare Dresse in Creme Caramel

I love this dress. I think it would look great with coral jewelry. The cut would be flattering on most body types, and I just love the warm mocha color.

Forever 21, Essential Sketched Floral Dress $29.80

I saw this dress in person at Forever 21 in NC. I am still kicking myself for not buying it. So cute.

The customer reviews on it are great, too.

And it’s really not that short. I think this model must be giant height.

Cap-Sleeve Striped Print Dress, $35

I love the flattering lines of this dress by JcPenney…it would hide lots of imperfections.

I would wear it with cute little flats and some chunky bangles.

Okay, don’t judge me for this next grouping of spring picks.

Walmart (yes I said Walmart) just started a new line called The Fitting Room.

They are trying to compete with Target (in my opinion) but I have to say that some of the stuff is super cute, especially the highly rated swim suit collection.

Sail-Away Lightweight Cardigan, $12.88
Lace Back Chiffon Flyaway Cardigan, $13.88
Miss Tina Draped Peplum Top, $13.94

If you ever shop with me you know I am a huge fan of the wedge shoe.

I like that I can wear them all day and my feet (usually) don’t hurt.

Women’s Merona® Marguerite Closed Wedge Canvas Espadrille -Neutral, $29.99

These neutral wedges from Target seem like the perfect thing to pair with all my spring clothes.

They also come in lots of fun colors.

Lulu by Lulu Guinness™ Bow-Tique Mini Crossbody Bag, $30

And last but not least, I am usually a leather bag only kinda girl but these crossbody bags by JcPenneys are so cute and fun for spring.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Home Improvement: Upholstering Yard Sale Finds

chair

Today I ran across this project that I worked on a few years ago.

I still am amazed at the transformation from yard sale item to handsome club chair so I thought I would share it with you.:)

Project totals:

$50 for the pair of yard sale chairs.

$100 for olive green ticking fabric.

$250 approx per chair for upholstery services including new foam, removing the chair skirts, and touching up the (now)exposed chair legs.

Free picked up and delivery.

You just need the vision.

Side note: My favorite upholsterer in the SC update is White’s Upholstery. I have used them for over five years on all sorts of projects. They are great!

Retail Therapy for a Friday- West Elm and Home Depot

I have been collecting some items to finish the guest bathroom that I recently painted at my fiance’s home. A mirror, frames for some art, shower curtain, towels etc. It’s slowly coming together. Yesterday(ok it was Thursday Retail Therapy but work with me) I scored a mirror at Marshalls that will be perfect….I think.

The funny thing about this project is I had no plan when I started. No color theme, period. I just started picking up items I like and surprise! They all work great together. I love when my instincts work for me!

Guest Bath, fresh paint
West Elm shower curtain, $39

See this post for my great deal on this West Elm shower curtain.

Smoky Mountain Trees – Archival Print , $15 Off the Map Art etsy.com
Pottery Barn Outlet, Cotton Rug, $9
Marshalls, Large painted mirror with architectural details, $49.99

The next items we need to purchase are a pedestal vanity and tile but I will probably have to wait a while for those. I can dream in the meantime.

Foremost Series 1930 Lavatory and Pedestal Combo in White $198.

Love the vintage feel of this unit from Homedepot.com. And love the price!

After I found the mirror I killed a little more time just walking around the store. ie I didn’t want to go back to work.

I spotted these beauties! Gosh, if I had some extra cash lying around these chairs would have gone home with me. Love the Danish modern lines and the rush seats. Swoon!

Danish Modern Dining Chairs, $129 each

And last but not least I spotted this bad boy. You would have to really love cats to have this thing reside in your house but for $29.99 you can be the proud owner of a faux fur cat ?stand? (insert sarcastic tone)

Happy Friday!

Housekeeping on a Thursday

I have been procrastinating making some “needed” purchases recently. Finally, this week I took the plunge.

I bought this camera on Monday. Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS Digital Camera with 4X Optical Zoom. I hope I like it. If not, oh well. I needed a basic camera. I also know a little nothing about cameras; so if the camera is not that great I probably won’t be able to tell anyway. It pays to be uninformed this time.:)

Amazon, Canon camera, $179

I recently I have been obsessed with this skirt. Old Navy Jersey Maxi skirt. I am really not an Old Navy kind of girl but I really like that they sell their maxi dresses and skirts in petite so I bought it on Tuesday. It will look great with gladiator sandals or espadrilles. I hope I love it. If not, I will be disillusioned for months. I really get my heart set on dumb things. I also threw in this yellow polka dot cami because I thought it matched my new camera nicely. Now you know how my brain works.  Happy Thursday!
